When fires swept through the hills behind Glendale in March of 1964, it was students and staff who held it off from 8:30 am til 2:30 pm untill firemen arrived.

Little did I know at that time that, 22 years later, I would be a volunteer firefighter in Yachats, Oregon, for sixteen years.
